Writing to Share, Again

Consider this my little intro and welcome to my blog, revived.

Hello Beautiful People!

I am back and writing again. Well, I’ve been writing, just not sharing. But I do have the best takes, and am a pretty good writer, or so I’m told, so I figured what better time than the present to be back. Temporarily on Substack. Until I am tech-savvy enough to build my own website.

For a re-introduction post, I could tell you where I’m from and who I am and what I do and etc, etc, but where’s the fun in that? Over time, you will come to get the answers to all of these questions as you read my articles. Instead, I put together a few random things I thought of as I’m writing this article at 3:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning – what I love and what I hate today, this week, this month, I’m not sure, just the general vibe.

from Things I’m Loving: taking online classes with Miftaah Institute

Things I am loving: using strong words like love or hate, canvassing, some Zara Larsson (not really a music gal in the sense that I have only listened to 5 albums maximum in my whole life), audiobooks, Bubuanddudu, writing, taking online classes with Miftaah Institute, Iced Tiramisu Latte from Tous les Jours, Iced Philtered Soul Extra Cream Extra Sweet with Cinnamon on Top from Philz Coffee, my planner, dumplings, IRL@DePaul, the fact that while I complain I can’t think of too many things I’m hating right now, em dashes.

from Things I’m Loving: THESE particular dumplings

Things I am hating: when people say don’t use such strong words, not being where I want to be at all, oversleeping, Heated Rivalry, generative AI, cappuccinos made in America (especially the Yemeni coffee shop ones), the spacebar of my laptop not working well at all, apolitical people, unintelligent people, hijab-taking-off-vibe, beauty standards, EM DASHES, MY FAVORITE PUNCTUATION, BECOMING AI INDICATORS.

Let me know your thoughts on these things, these items, these topics. What are you loving? What are you hating? One of these days I should start a podcast. Who am I kidding tho, let’s hope the blog survives. What I’m also loving a lot is a class that I’m taking inside of the Cook County Jail, but more to come about that in writing in one of my next articles. What I’d like to talk a little bit more about is the hijab, as well as how we are practicing religion as Muslim women, and as Muslims in general. Also, some fun story times from work or school or all around. People always tell me, “Ensara, you meet the strangest people,” or “Ensara, how do you have such interesting stories?” and maybe in these writings we’ll get to the bottom of that. Please tell me what you’d like to hear me write about. I have A LOT on my mind, but the people’s opinion matters. I’m excited to be back in the writing space.

Until next time
Which is hopefully in 2 weeks max,
With love and solidarity,
Ensara Sejko ꨄ
